| SI
has considerable experience in the analysis and measurement
of piping vibration and in the assessment and prevention
of vibration-related failures at nuclear power plants.
Our staff includes engineers with many years of experience
in areas such as structural dynamics, stress analysis,
ASME Code requirements, vibration testing and analysis,
applied mechanics and materials. SI has developed
efficient and user-friendly data acquisition systems
to collect and analyze vibration monitoring data.
SI
has also done a considerable amount of research work
for EPRI related to the vibration of small-bore piping.
SI prepared the EPRI Fatigue Management Handbook and
has assisted many power plants in the use of the Handbook.
SI has also developed and tested methods to improve
socket weld fatigue life, and has developed screening
methodologies to assess vibrational effects on the
welds.
SI
has solved vibration problems for a number of clients,
both in the power and non-power related industries.
Several examples of recent projects include: evaluation
of power uprate effects on small bore piping connected
to the recirculation system; design and implementation
of a vibration monitoring system for main steam piping;
solution of a piping vibration problem in pharmaceutical
process piping; and assessment of vibration due to
increased flow in extraction steam lines related to
turbine replacement.
