The VDAS system is designed for periodic monitoring of a piping system such as Main Steam or Feedwater on up to 40 channels. The system consists of a set of accelerometers, signal conditioner, anti-alias filter, analog-to-digital converter, and a desktop PC. Data is acquired for a predetermined period of time (usually 2 minutes). Following the acquisition, an RMS value is automatically calculated and compared to the allowable. A report is generated outlining acceptability of vibration levels on all of the monitored locations.
