Vibration Analysis and Monitoring
Some examples of recent vibration related projects:
-
Analysis of extraction steam piping to determine the potential impact to vibration levels from increased flow due to turbine replacement
-
Measurement and analysis of vibration levels in a pharmaceutical industry process piping system to assess potential for failure. Modifications were designed and implemented that significantly reduced the level of vibration.
-
Analysis of planned power uprate modifications to identify potential for new resonant conditions
-
Fatigue testing of various improved socket weld designs, including weld overlay repairs
-
Analysis of a valve stem failure caused by feedwater pump vibrations
-
Prediction of fatigue crack growth rates in a turbine generator component to support continued operation until the next scheduled outage
-
Designed remote monitoring system used to measure main steam and feedwater pipe vibration inside primary containment. This project also included evaluation of the vibration data for structural acceptability of the piping system due to extended power uprate.
-
Performed modal analyses of a high-pressure safety injection pump to determine the effects of various modifications to reduce vibration.
-
Analyzed recirculation instrument sensing lines to determine the vibration acceptance criteria and modifications to minimize vibration.
-
Designed and installed Transient Torsional Vibration Monitoring System (TTVMS) at several nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. Determined allowable vibration levels, reviewed and interpreted collected data.
-
Designed and delivered Plant Vibration Monitoring System (PVMS) used for quick data collection for small bore piping vibration problems.
-
Performed piping vibration analysis and developed refined acceptance criteria to justify continued operation after excessive vibration was observed in a piping system.
