Mr. Marano joined SIA after a brief retirement from Westinghouse Electric Company, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing core global products and services and played a key role in the company’s emergence from bankruptcy. Prior to that, he was the Westinghouse President for the Americas and EMEA sales regions, driving strategic revenue growth in a challenging nuclear market for four years.
With a career spanning over 40 years in both the client and supplier sides of the power generation industry, Mr. Marano also held executive leadership positions with AREVA NP (currently Framatome) as Senior Vice President, New Nuclear Power Plants & Business Development, and at GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy as Senior Vice President, Business Development, Commercial & Marketing.
Furthermore, Mr. Marano held several senior leadership roles at American Electric Power (AEP), a power utility company with electric transmission/distribution networks as well as nuclear, coal, natural gas, and hydro generation assets. He was Senior Vice President, Generation Business Services, and Senior Vice President, Financial Planning company-wide. He also served as a CEO for five years at Numanco, a subsidiary of AEP, a provider of staff augmentation services.
Mr. Marano also worked in progressive positions in his other utility experience with Progress Energy (now Duke), Public Service Electric and Gas, Florida Power & Light, and Carolina Power & Light (now Duke), and 5 years with Grumman Aerospace (now Northrop Grumman).
Mike Battaglia is a trusted and proven leader at Structural Integrity Associates, recognized for his steady guidance, deep industry expertise, and ability to build and scale high-performing organizations. In his dual role as Senior Vice President of Engineering Services and Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), Mike brings more than 30 years of experience to advancing SIA’s Engineering Services and Nuclear businesses while strengthening alignment across the firm’s critical markets.
Prior to joining SIA, Mr. Battaglia held senior leadership roles across the nuclear and energy industries, delivering meaningful operational and technical advancements. At Westinghouse Electric Company, he built and led the Balance-of-Plant Engineering department and guided the commercial deployment of a new Alloy 600 mitigation technology in the United States. He also held leadership positions with Framatome, Inc., and GSE Systems, Inc., further strengthening his experience in engineering, operations, and technology deployment.
Mr. Battaglia holds a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a certified Master Black Belt through an accredited Six Sigma Academy.
Through his expertise and highly engaged leadership style, Mr. Battaglia brings an integrated approach to advancing the long-term strategic vision of Structural Integrity Associates, supporting continued growth and technical excellence in our Engineering Services and Nuclear businesses.
Mr. Connolly joined Structural Integrity in 2025 as the Chief Financial Officer of SI Solutions. With a career spanning over 20 years of corporate financial and operational experience, Mr. Connolly’s expertise includes technical accounting, internal and external financial reporting, treasury, audit, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, accounting systems, process improvements, taxes, and business insurance. He has worked in various private and public sectors including utility infrastructure construction, manufacturing, distribution, and professional services.
Mr. Connolly holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Delaware and various professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Certified Construction Industry Finance Professional (CCIFP).
Mr. Ford is the Executive Director of the Project Management Office (PMO), providing governance, standards, and oversight for project execution and identifying and implementing best practices that advance the support we provide to our clients.
Since joining Structural Integrity Associates (SIA) in 2016, Mr. Ford has provided critical support and leadership to SIA’s Nuclear business unit and was also elected as an internal SIA Board Member. In his prior role as the Executive Director of Nuclear Systems and Programs, Mr. Ford collaborated to optimize internal processes focused on operational performance that resulted in improvements in client support, deliverable timeliness and project performance. In his first role in Nuclear, he completed the successful integration of Finetech into SIA, partnering that group’s Chemistry expertise with SIA’s materials and analytical capabilities.
Before joining SIA, Mr. Ford had over 18 years of experience in various leadership positions in the Operations and Chemistry/Environmental departments at the Oyster Creek Generating Station. As the Operations Director, Mr. Ford was responsible for the safe, reliable operation of the facility. Notable achievements include achieving an INPO 1 rating, the reaccreditation of the Operations Training program, ensuring proper focus and safe alignment of the station through Superstorm Sandy, achieving 1000+ days event free in the Clearance & Tagging program, exceeding 500+ days in the Configuration Control program, and improving the Nuclear Oversight (NOS) rating of the Department from Red to White.
Mr. Ford’s diverse experience and dedication position him to successfully support the expansion of our PMO Department and to provide a positive impact throughout the entire organization.
As Vice President of Engineering Services Business Development at Structural Integrity Associates, Mr. Freeman provides executive leadership for client engagement, growth strategy, and the strategic positioning of the organization’s engineering capabilities across disciplines and markets. With nearly four decades of experience in the power generation industry, he brings a combination of deep engineering expertise and proven business leadership to the organization.
Since joining Structural Integrity Associates in 2014, Mr. Freeman has held a series of senior leadership roles, including Director of Strategic Business Development, Executive Director of the Energy Services Group, and Vice President of the Energy Services Group. In these roles, he supported the development of key products and service offerings focused on asset life management and safe operation, while also building and sustaining long-term client relationships across the energy industry.
Prior to joining SIA, Mr. Freeman held leadership positions across the power generation sector, including roles at Intertek and Automation Technology, where he oversaw business development and project management. Earlier in his career, he held technical and management roles with EPRI, SAIC, and Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.
Mr. Freeman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University.
As Vice President of the Energy Services Group (ESG) at Structural Integrity Associates, Mr. Gressler provides executive leadership and technical direction for services supporting the integrity and reliability of critical energy infrastructure. With more than 30 years of experience in metallurgy, failure analysis, and asset life assessment, he brings deep technical authority to complex piping, boiler, and balance-of-plant systems.
Since joining Structural Integrity Associates in 1997, Mr. Gressler has been a principal contributor to the firm’s methodologies for assessing service degradation and remaining life of high-temperature and high-pressure components. His work has shaped engineering approaches used across the organization to support long-term equipment integrity and risk-informed decision-making.
Throughout his career at SIA, Mr. Gressler has held progressively senior leadership roles, including Senior Engineer/Consultant, Manager of the Fossil Projects Group, Technical Director, and Vice President of the Energy Services Group. He now returns to the Vice President role, bringing deep institutional knowledge and technical leadership to the organization. Before joining SIA, he held engineering roles in utility and power generation environments.
Mr. Gressler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, with multi-state registration through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
Mark is an engineer with nearly 20 years of consulting experience, all at SIA. His experience includes leading technical, managerial, and business development teams, and he has a passion for developing new tools and methods to solve client problems. Mark’s technical expertise pertains to asset integrity, coupling first-principles methods with advanced analyses to demonstrate realistic extended lifetimes for critical components. While primarily working within SIA’s nuclear business, his background has enabled him to support clients and develop relationships across all of SIA’s business areas.
Ms. Libra-Sharkey serves as Vice President, Nuclear, bringing more than 20 years of experience in nuclear chemistry, operations, and engineering leadership. She is recognized for combining deep technical expertise with strategic business leadership to drive growth, innovation, and sustainable value for clients and employees.
Since joining SIA, Erica has held progressively senior leadership roles, most recently serving as Executive Director, Operational & Analytical Engineering Services, where she led multidisciplinary teams supporting complex nuclear programs spanning operational support, analytical services, and asset life optimization. Earlier in her career, she served in nuclear chemistry leadership roles at Exelon’s Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station.
Erica is an active contributor to the nuclear industry. She has led Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) boiling water reactor chemistry working groups, supported Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) initiatives, managed EPRI-sponsored projects, and has been nominated for a Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Top Innovative Practice Award. She was also honored with an ANS Young Members “40 Under 40” award, recognizing her leadership and impact in advancing the nuclear profession.
Erica is an ANSI 3.1 Qualified Nuclear Chemistry Technician and a Project Management Professional (PMP®).
Mr. Riccardella is the Executive Director of the Pipeline Integrity Compliance Solutions (PICS) Business Unit, leading a team that provides integrity management, assessment, and advanced analysis solutions to the pipeline industry.
Mr. Riccardella joined SIA in 2008 and helped establish and grow the PICS business unit from its origins to a leader in pipeline integrity and regulatory consulting. He has over 25 years of industry expertise, providing technical and business leadership in a broad range of disciplines, including pipeline integrity, fracture mechanics, business development, software development, and project management. He has received numerous industry honors, including the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) Distinguished Researcher Award. His technical and business expertise has helped position Structural Integrity as a leading service provider in the pipeline industry.
Cam holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. She also holds a PHR and is a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Her experience includes 20 years in multiple areas of Human Resources disciplines, including strategic management, workforce planning, learning and development, total rewards, and employee relations. She has worked in a variety of private, public, and non-profit sectors in finance, real estate, health, and hospitality.
Dr. Van Velsor is the Executive Director of the NDE & Instrumentation group and is focused on the deployment of advanced testing and monitoring methods to support and enhance SIA’s engineering capabilities. He joined SIA in 2011 through the acquisition of a guided wave testing services business that he had co-developed with his previous employer. Since joining, Dr. Van Velsor has served in multiple leadership positions and has been a champion for innovation, introducing new technologies to the business, developing strategic relationships and licensing agreements with outside organizations, and establishing SIA as a preferred NDE R&D contractor with multiple industry consortiums. Additionally, he has significant experience in and knowledge of the nuclear, power generation, and oil & gas markets, which comprise SIA’s three largest business areas.
