Calculate Predicted Failure Pressure and Remaining Life

APTITUDE™ is an easy-to-use crack evaluation application used by pipeline operators to calculate predicted failure pressure and remaining life of steel pipelines using industry-recognized evaluation methods. 

Combined with Structural Integrity’s fracture mechanics expertise, APTITUDE can provide an efficient and cost-effective way for operators to complete engineering critical assessments (ECAs) and PFP analyses.

 WHY APTITUDE

APTITUDE can assess a wide range of pipe flaw types using a variety of pipe and material properties, including:

Use of this application helps to ensure safety, asset optimization, and adherence to updated criteria defined by 49 CFR §192.712 – Pipeline Safety Regulation.

APTITUDE determines predicted failure pressures (PFP) through multiple industry-accepted methods to determine the code-based response criteria. It can also calculate the predicted cyclic fatigue or SCC crack growth to determine the fatigue life and re-assessment interval.

INDUSTRY SUPPORT

Structural Integrity Associates, in 2024, convened a joint industry project (JIP) to upgrade APTITUDE to a web-based platform to further benefit operators. Enhanced capabilities and accessibility became available in March 2025, with added features introduced later that same year.
