Comprehensive metallurgical laboratory services to support material issues and flaw analysis

Proactively analyzing components to assess current condition (as part of overall asset management functions) or to identify failure modes and causes is helpful for business planning, addressing safety concerns, and implementing technical changes helping to reduce and eliminate future failures. We also have the capability to leverage the broad depth of industry expertise and services across SI. Our deliverables are clear, consistent, and accurate.

Our Mission:

To provide a full range of metallurgical expertise, and to deliver information in support of a comprehensive understanding of our client’s material issues.

ACCURATE FINDINGS

ACCURATE FINDINGS

Our Material Science team has over 100 combined years of experience in performing materials analyses related to power and industrial systems and components. This experience contributes directly to the ability to provide accurate results when identifying metal and component damage mechanisms and causative factors.

INTEGRATED SUPPORT

INTEGRATED SUPPORT

The MSC team leverages SI’s broad scope of expertise in power plants and industry, including design and manufacturing knowledge, stress analysis, modeling, and non-destructive testing to deliver comprehensive failure analysis and engineering solutions.

VALUABLE INSIGHTS

VALUABLE INSIGHTS

When ongoing failure risk is unacceptable, identifying root causes becomes critical. Structural Integrity understands our clients’ problems and delivers value through meaningful recommendations on serviceability, operational improvement, material selection, and failure avoidance.

INDUSTRIES

We provide metallurgical services to hundreds of power industry clients and often work in tandem with SI’s various engineering groups. SI is well known for helping clients assess damage mechanisms, determining failure root causes, and providing successful, cost-effective asset management solutions.
Our scientists, engineers, and technicians have many years of experience evaluating components from petrochem and process facilities, from rotating equipment to furnace tubing to exotic alloy parts in specialty processes. SI’s knowledge also encompasses common equipment and components, such as fans, pumps, fasteners, shafts, structural sections, welds, and many other plant components.
Structural Integrity has created robust procedures and tools to help operators develop and apply their Material Verification programs. We also maintain a team of expert field specialists and equipment to perform Material Verification on in-service pipelines and can perform lab testing on pipe removed from service.

We provide innovative solutions and services for all industries, covering materials engineering services of all types such as fatigue management, material property verification, metallurgical analysis, welding support, and more.

Our Materials Science Center team has experience handling projects with components that are involved in insurance and legal disputes. We support our clients by ensuring the smooth completion of work, with full documentation, and can host inspection events when needed.
