PIPES AND PIPELINE

SIA is a leader in program development, advanced inspection methods, materials evaluations, and fitness-for-service evaluations for a variety of piping used in the power generation and energy transportation industries. Our expert, highly experienced engineering staff follow industry best practices and leverage SIA’s Vulnerability Index (Vindex) methods to risk rank critical piping, and offer real-time damage tracking via our PlantTrack™ software.

Life Cycle Management (LCM) FOR BALANCE OF PLANT PIPING

SIA’s Life Cycle Management approach provides an alternative in the form of a proactive, comprehensive strategy for piping system management. The process combines specialized engineering methods with advanced corrosion predictions to forecast potential degradation and easily disposition findings. Armed with LCM, utility engineers can strategically plan and execute inspections with the confidence that the results will not lead to costly “emergency” situations.

High Energy Piping (HEP)

High-energy piping systems (also known as: Covered Piping Systems) in power plants contain critical components requiring careful maintenance and inspection. Our experts offer plant owners and operators a full range of HEP services, specializing in HEP program development, implementation, and integration into PlantTrack™, our knowledge/data management system. These cost-effective tools maximize the efficiency of lifecycle management budgets. Our real-time monitoring, finite element modeling, fitness-for-service analysis, non-destructive examinations, and metallurgical lab analysis provide plant owners and operators with a customized HEP program to fit plant needs and meet and exceeds all the requirements of section ASME B31.1.

SIA is unique in the industry as we offer an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to buried and underground corrosion concerns. SIA has the comprehensive expertise to assist in all phases of above-ground piping, buried piping, and underground asset integrity programs. From program development, data integration, risk ranking, and conducting cathodic protection (CP) systems assessments to advanced NDE techniques to locate and characterize corrosion damage. Once the foundation has been established, knowing how to disposition those findings and mitigate future degradation is critical. Integrating all available information (i.e., design, soil, groundwater, CP system operation, plant history, etc.) will lead to informed decision-making and improved process management.

MIDSTREAM PIPELINE Compliance Solutions

Pipeline operators face increasing challenges to ensure that their infrastructure will have the integrity to continue safe and reliable operation amidst a dynamic and complex regulatory environment. SIA’s PICS unit has in-depth experience providing regulatory compliance, engineering, and assessment consulting services to support gas transmission pipelines, hazardous liquid pipelines, gas distribution pipelines, and other related piping and facilities.
