Structural Integrity Associates (SIA) provides integrated engineering, design and life cycle management solutions for pressure equipment by applying advanced engineering tools and inspection techniques. We use our vast experience to provide solutions that can reduce life cycle costs, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
Structural Integrity Associates has over 35 years of experience in designing, supporting construction and maintenance of pressure vessels and piping systems. Our Subject Matter Experts are actively involved with ASME Code Participation and Leadership.
SIA provides engineering support for critical pressure equipment such as high pressure vessels and coke drums for the complete life cycle of the equipment. That is, from conceptual design through operation, inspection, and maintenance to retirement and replacement of such critical assets.
SIA provides complete fitness-for-service (FFS) support for known damage mechanisms in pressure equipment. The damages may be due to abnormal operating conditions, corrosion, erosion, pitting, fatigue, vibration, auto-refrigeration (brittle fracture), hydrogen induced cracking, or other flaws such as cracking or simply due to the end of design life. FFS support is vital in making timely repair/replace decisions to support short cycle critical turnarounds and often allow units to get back online in the most expeditious methods possible while minimizing downtime.
SI is a leader in inspection program development, inspection support, material selection, root cause analyses, and FFS evaluations.
Our competitive, integrated approach to pressure vessel lifecycle management includes condition monitoring using advanced strain gages, thermocouples, inspections, FFS evaluations, and metallurgical analysis to reduce unplanned shutdowns and allow plants to operate with greater flexibility. We specialize in low, medium, and very high-pressure vessels.
Our competitive, integrated approach to boiler lifecycle management includes risk-ranking components and applying cycle chemistry reviews, inspections, fitness-for-service and metallurgical analysis to reduce forced outage rates and allow plants to operate with greater flexibility.
SIA’s expertise includes FFS of API storage tanks that may be subjected to shell distortion, settlement, bottom plate distortions, and other damage mechanisms. SIA Performed assessments on double walled LNG tanks and other single walled large diameter atmospheric and low pressure storage tanks.
PSE collaborates with SIA’s NDE to develop advanced inspection methods and devices to inspect complex geometries. In addition, PSE coordinates the inspection on critical assets and performs a synchronized life assessment after inspections.
We support in design and analysis of custom pressure equipment for some of the most challenging operational conditions to meet ASME, API, and other internationally recognized standards and compliance documents for legal requirements, such as the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), from around the world.
This includes:
SIA has recognized experts active in the creation and implementation of codes and standards internationally recognized from around the world, including ASME, API, CSA, and compliance with regulations and requirements of regulating bodies such as the EU’s Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), Japan’s KHK High-Pressure Gas Safety Institute, US’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), Chemical Safety Board, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and US DOT Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).
