Summary

Few utilities have the resources to carry a nuclear plant through its full lifecycle alone. A single degraded weld can pull in fracture mechanics, metallurgy, inspection, and a regulatory submittal before anyone reaches a run-or-repair decision, and every handoff between specialist firms costs schedule the outage does not have. Structural Integrity Associates has answered that problem since 1983, when engineering assessments, repairs, and consulting for nuclear plants became the company’s first business offering. Nearly every nuclear utility in the United States, and many internationally, has relied on that support since.

Breadth is the point. SIA’s nuclear power services span stress analysis and fracture mechanics applied to reactor pressure vessels, internals, and primary system piping; advanced nondestructive examination of austenitic and dissimilar metal welds, vessel shells, and turbine-generator components; and root-cause failure analysis backed by our own Metallurgical Laboratory. Metal fatigue, wall thinning, PWSCC and IGSCC, buried piping, seismic qualification, and concrete aging are each handled by specialists who are active in the leadership of ASME, ASNT, and other standards organizations.

That integration matters most where operating decisions get made. License renewal and subsequent license renewal work turns aging-management analysis into defensible NRC submittals. Operational support services carry chemistry, radiation protection, and emergency preparedness programs through implementation rather than stopping at the recommendation. Monitoring systems and software, including SI:FatiguePro, keep component usage current between outages instead of reconstructing it after the fact. The same disciplines now support advanced reactor designs entering licensing. Whether the question is an emergent operability call or the technical case for eighty years of operation, SIA brings one accountable team to it.
